Smallflower - Blue Vervain (2oz) #10090170
Blue Vervain is a rather stunning upright perennial in the Verbena family, native to the Mediterranean region, most of the contiguous United States and Southern Canada. Its deep purple blooms emerge gradually over the course of the summer season, in an impressive spire or candelabra formation along the tall vertical stem. It can grow to 3โ to 5โ tall left to its own devices and is very popular with pollinators and gardeners alike.
Blue Vervain has a long history of traditional use as sedative nervine, or relaxant herb, believed to be especially useful for the classic American โType Aโ personality, those who are very driven and have a hard time settling their bodies and minds. Blue Vervain can be very useful for other personality types too and has been used to support relaxation in womenโs reproductive cycles, digestion and the occasional tension headache that may take root in the neck. Dried Blue Vervain is an extremely bitter herb, and may be best made into a tincture. As a tea, it can be combined with more palatable herbs like linden, oatstraw or rose.
Precautions: Not for use in pregnancy except under the supervision of a qualified healthcare practitioner. We recommend that you consult with a qualified healthcare practitioner before using herbal products, particularly if you are pregnant, nursing, or on any medications.
